Crusty and Creaseless

What happens when you Google the random baking ingredients in your pantry, and this delicate art-thing pops up?

“Easy” Lemon Crinkle Cookies, by the talented Chew Nibble Nosh

You calmly say, “challenge accepted”, channel your inner baker, and give it a shot! When the result is flat and sad as below, you then think: mind over matter; taste over looks…

Lemon crinkle cookies
My version: There was no crinkling, to be sure, but these were awesomely zesty.

…and proceed to buffer your failure with the familiar:

Lemon crinkle + oatmeal
My tried and tasted, trustee oatmeal cookies 🙂

The end.

P.S.: Deep down you wonder why the lack of pretty cracks, despite following the recipe precisely. A quick search tells it’s something to do with surface drying speed vs. spread of dough. Huh? No matter. You probably wanted a nice-looking snack and not a science lesson anyway.
